Trevor has enjoyed living along the Causeway Coast for the past 25 years, situated just outside Portrush he has acquired over many years a variety of traditional craft skills, including coppice crafts & chair -making, basketry and most recently working with Driftwood.
Having first discovered a passion for basketry he studied over many years with makers throughout Ireland, including renowned Master basketmaker Joe Hogan. (Galway)
This same passion developed into being able to combine several mediums to create one off pieces of furniture. Trevor spent time in West Cork working on honing his skills of Coppice crafts and in particular chair making , These skills combined with growing and coppicing sustainable wood has now seen some of his exhibition work now residing in France and America.
The past year has seen his work take on a very fresh & vibrant new direction, with the addition of Driftwood to his product range. Many hours are spent beachcombing, foraging , gathering the wonders that the ocean discards onto the shores and he in turn begins to recreate into stunning works of art. As driftwood has spent a very long time in the ocean, it requires to be seasoned, processed, treated, and for the candle products all are treated with fire retardant.
While many pieces of driftwood are stunningly beautiful as they are, he gets great satisfaction from enhancing even the most simplistic piece and creating an object of beauty to be admired for many years to come when it takes on a new purpose , a new shape, a new form.
