Forgotten China creates handmade jewellery pieces, bespoke light fittings and tiered cake stands from old, vintage china. Each piece of china is sourced from charity shops and auction rooms around Ireland with a particular effort placed on sourcing Irish china where possible. Each piece from Forgotten China has a story; whether it's the chipped sugar bowl, found full of sugar at an auction house and then handcrafted into a pair of cufflinks or the broken and discarded teacups, unloved and covered in dust in a charity shop which are now a beautiful pair of earrings. Every jewellery creation is unique, special and...

Meet Helen Perry of Strombolitwo

After a childhood in New Zealand where I first learnt to knit and sew, I studied architecture in Australia.  Designing and making costumes for student theatre there, inspired making pieces for sale. As designer-owner of Stromboli Apparel in Sydney, my love of fabrics, draping and accessories came together in the production of cutting edge women’s-wear in silks, cottons and linen.  Several ranges featured the work of a local Japanese silk kimono painter.  Now living in Northern Ireland, my love of fabric endures and the gorgeous north coast inspired the rebirth of Strombolitwo. From glass-painting for President Mary McAleese to creating a three-foot willow candleholder for ITV’s This Morning programme and working on a willow arch for the Queen’s Jubilee, Lousie McLean is surely an inspiration to crafters everywhere and we are just delighted to have her as our artist in residence at The Designerie in Bushmills.
