Make Christmas Special This Year with Festive Traditions

Make Christmas Special This Year with Festive Traditions

When it comes to celebrations we all have our own traditions. Some have been passed down from generation to generation, while others may have only started in the past few years.

Some of our customers return to the shop year on year, as part of their Christmas traditions, which made us think about what yours might be.

It’s nice to try new things, so if you’re looking for a new tradition to take on this year, here are some ideas we think you might like:

1) Christmas Outings

For many families, Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a family outing to see a Christmas Panto. The popular musical comedies are filled with a hefty dose of magic, fairytales and of course rib-tickling comedy.

However, if you’re not really into theatre, there are still a few days to visit Northern Ireland’s largest continental Christmas market in Belfast!

Delicious food, the smell and taste of mulled wine or luxurious hot chocolate are only a few of the reasons many people have made it a tradition to visit a local Christmas Market. These festive fairs offer everything from handmade gifts and baked goodies to vintage rides and carousels.

2) Shopping days out

There’s something magical about strolling along the high street in the run-up to Christmas, with dazzling window displays and festive music in the background.

Make your shopping day out into a tradition, and visit local businesses and support independent retailers on your local high street.

While you’re out shopping, we hope to see you in The Designerie. We have a wide range of beautifully unique handmade items, perfect for last-minute gifts or stocking fillers.

You can find our festive opening times on our social media.

3) Catching up with family and friends

Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, and what better way to catch up than coming together for a Christmas Coffee?

Whether it’s before or after the festivities, make it a tradition to set some time aside and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

You can even surprise them with some handmade mugs from one of our designer makers and a bag of Causeway Coffee.

4) Christmas Movies

‘Tis the season to watch your favourite festive movies. Be it Miracle on the 34th Street or White Christmas, what counts as a Christmas movie is entirely up to you or your family, but there is no shortage of choice when it comes to holiday films.

Why not snuggle up with a cosy blanket and your favourite hot drink in hand and start a new tradition of watching a festive movie with your loved ones this year?

5) Christmas Swim

Taking an icy plunge this Christmas is very popular here on The North Coast! It may not sound like the most inviting activity on a cold Christmas morning, but it is a great way to raise funds for charity.

6) New Year’s Eve Nibbles

The few days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve usually pass in a blur. Jumping from one holiday into the next can be quite overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

If you are hosting a party this year, forgo the big New Year’s cooking dilemmas and opt for a selection of nibbles to serve your guests. To make it even better, you can use a selection of Taste Causeway products and add wonderful chutneys, preserves, and more to your festive cheese boards or use some of the products to create unexpected cocktails too.

Whether you start a new tradition or continue an old family tradition, we hope you have a wonderful festive season!
