Here in Northern Ireland, we are blessed with an array of sensational views, but more often than not our own amateur photos don’t do them justice.

Here are a few photography tips to help ensure you get perfect summer snaps for your North Coast album:

 

Composition

While it may be tempting to take a photo from your eye-level, there are other options to consider too, allow yourself to experiment with the composition. 

Try something different each time - why not give a higher or lower angle a go? There are plenty of sandy beaches around the North Coast where you can comfortably lie on the ground to capture an unusual angle! 

 

Focus

The focus of a photo has the ability to make or break the effect of the entire image.  If you are an iPhone user, have you tried the inbuilt portrait mode for example?

Novice photographers may leave focus selection entirely up to their device, but experienced shooters know you can achieve better results by making those decisions yourself.

Setting and Location

While it might seem obvious, the location of your image helps to tell a story. So, ask yourself, what kind of story do you want to tell? What mood do you want to showcase? 

Thankfully, our spectacular North Coast has multiple stunning locations to choose from. Here at The Designerie, some of our favourite photography locations include The Giant’s Causeway, Mussenden Temple, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle and The Dark Hedges.
