Hi my name is Rachel Julca. I create mixed media street scene pictures, brooches, decorations and design clothing. I take inspiration from my surroundings in Ireland. I first started my business in 2014 after I first designed my original design at a cross community course I attended for women in business. For my final project i wanted to design an image I could use on a table which displayed the jewellery I made.

I wanted to design something uniquely me and thought the best place to start would be my own home. I took pictures of the things I LOVE and used them as inspiration to make my design. People loved the design I did on the cloth and I soon realised that it was gaining more attention than the jewellery! I decided to make some products with the design on and for about 8 months at the Fine & Dandy Fair in Belfast watched and listened and evolved my products accordingly. Soon the ceramic pictures I had made were getting all the attention and thanks to encouragement from my friend Trevor Woods from Mount Ida Pottery I began to refine the idea.

Emma Leahy - Dawn & Dusk Ceramic Flowers

Regular price £150.00

Tax included.

Emma Leahy is a ceramicist from County Down in Northern Ireland.  Her work is predominately inspired by the stunning countryside that surrounds her and the tranquility that nature provides.

Dawn & Dusk is a collection of work influenced by the changing appearance of wildflowers throughout the duration of the day. It consists of framed black and white art and the green and white Christmas decoration collection.

These ceramic pieces embody Emma’s observation of the changes in light by using the contrasting colours porcelain. Each piece is delicately crafted by hand before being fired to a high temperature with no glaze, a fittingly raw finish to the collection representing the translucency and fragility of the natural world. Each decoration is unique with the contrast between ceramic and natural wood.

What is for you won’t pass you – Journeys – Framed Tile

A handmade ceramic tile impressed with a modern geometric pattern, adorned with a simple line drawing of a road winding off into the distance with a bright yellow glossy moon or stylised compass at the sky.

The text “what is for you won’t pass you”, a phrase familiar to most Irish people and a philosophy many Irish people live by.

The ceramic tiles, which are textured with wallpaper patterns are formed from flat pieces of clay which framed in white wooden frames made in here in Dundalk.

“I love to use a line or quote that strikes a happy chord in your memory; the phrases I’ve chosen for the ‘Journeys’ range are those we’d hear throughout Ireland and some farther afield…all about our travels through life.”

Each piece of Irish pottery is carefully wrapped in tissue, eco bubble wrap, corrugated card and boxed to ensure its safe journey to you.

Frame Size – 21 x 29 x 3 cm weighs approx 900g
