Apply For Sponsored Pod
Last year The Honourable Irish Society offered a creative business owner the opportunity to take advantage of a pod in Makers House, sponsored for a year.
The lucky business was welcomed into the Makers House team - working creating and working 3 days a week in the shop alongside other small businesses. They were provided with a year long contract entitling them to a free rent on a selling space in a destination store on the Causeway Coast where they were able to build their customer base, host workshops and take part in commercial events. They benefited from mentorship from The Designerie Business Manager, Enterprise Causeway Business Support, the fellow small business owners of Makers House, as well as from the Digital Marketing Officer in the Designerie.
It was such a success and the feedback of the opportunity so positive that, generously, The Honourable Irish Society have offered to do it again, for another candidate!
If you are a small business owner, ready to grow your business from a home office/studio to having your own physical space and would love to experience the buzz of selling face-to-face with customers, this could be for you!
You will be surrounded by an incredible group of creatives and small business owners, for a whole year, completely free of charge. You will have the opportunity to reach a new and exciting audience here on the North Coast of Ireland, including our locals and tourists from all over the world.
To apply, contact manager@thedesignerie.co.uk for an application form, and reply by Monday 7th August.
Successful candidates will be interviews mid August to start in Makers House at the start of September.
Thank you to the Honourable Irish Society who have kindly sponsored this opportunity.
2022
Last year's successful applicant was Palette Design Art, who has thrived from the sponsorship.
Asked about her time in Makers house she celebrated:
"the wealth of mentoring and advice from the other Maker’s as many of them have been in business longer than me. I have also gained a better understanding of my business as a brand... and through selling one off paintings from my pod, I feel like I now know which sizes and styles of paintings sell best. I also now have a better and clearer idea of my target market which has enabled more tailored social media work."
At the end of the year Claire is planning to leave her former job and commit to self- employment to give her business full attention. She is an absolute success story.
